Biography

Named to the Top 40 Under 40 by the Pacific Coast Business Times, Tyler Suchman finds the nexus of technology and community an ideal place for his skills and experience. His career includes executive and managerial positions with companies in the technology and music industries.

Tyler is Founder and CEO of Emergencity, Inc., a community service provider that provides hyperlocal communities with a proven and sophisticated web communications infrastructure, empowering citizens with access and interactivity for events, businesses, jobs, blogs, video and more.  By establishing a scalable, reliable community hub, Emergencity enables next-generation emergency and crisis management through effective aggregation and distribution of critical information, or actionable intelligence, from all corners of the community.  Emergencity's products are designed to benefit the social fabric of a community, including volunteerism, commerce, culture, and philanthropy.

In 2002, Tyler founded Tribal Core, a consulting firm focused on internet strategy and web marketing, including search engine optimization, shopping networks, business blogging and more. Tribal Core’s active clients include businesses nationwide that value social responsibility, philanthropy and community.

Tyler also founded and operates a number of Ojai-based websites, a partial list including The Ojai Post, OjaiNetwork.com, OjaiEvents.com, OjaiNews.com, OjaiRestaurants.com, OjaiJobs.com, OjaiGarden.com and OjaiHealers.com.

From 2003 to 2007, Tyler worked with independent jazz label Cryptogramophone Records as a partner and General Manager, heading up operations and distribution. Founded in 1998, the label has 35 releases distributed in fourteen territories worldwide. In 2004, Tyler spearheaded the development of IndieJazz.com, a profitable online retail site now featuring over 1000 CD and DVD releases from 50+ domestic and international jazz record labels.

Prior to starting his consultancy, Tyler worked for Vivendi Universal as head of Content Production for Moviso, the mobile media division of VU and parent company of YourMobile.com. As senior employee, Tyler helped build and maintain the Yourmobile community of 10 million global users.

Previously, Tyler was Director of New Media for The Copeland Group; Miles Copeland's companies include Firstars Management (Sting, Belinda Carlisle, Moody Blues), ARK 21 Records, Pagan Records and more. He built his first website in 1995, over time establishing web presences for all companies and artists, while forging partnerships with Intel, RealNetworks, Broadcast.com and others.

Tyler graduated from UCLA in 1994. He resides in Ojai with his partner, Ali-Sun, where he enjoys cooking, gardening, hiking, woodworking and great weather.

KMPC-710 was a 50,000 watt all-sports radio station, broadcasting games for UCLA football and basketball, the Clippers and the Angels. Produced the overnight "Tony Femino - Attica Radio" show, and then the Fred Wallin morning drive-time show. Filled in as producer for Jim Healey, Jim Lampley, Joe McDonnell, Doug Krikorian, Jack Snow and many others.
